FRENELL-SES Highlights New Valley Smart Mini-Grid at MENALINKS Cairo
Cairo, Egypt – FRENELL-SES proudly participated in the MENALINKS Innovation & Investment Forum on Smart Mini-Grids, held in Cairo under the theme "From Regulation to Projects: Building Egypt's Smart Mini-Grid Market." The event brings together leading policymakers, regulators, developers, investors, and technology providers to accelerate the deployment of smart mini-grid solutions across Egypt.
Representing FRENELL-SES, Martin Selig joined an esteemed panel of experts and industry leaders discussing the role of smart mini-grids as a key enabler of Egypt's clean energy transition. The forum provided a valuable platform to exchange experiences and showcase successful projects that demonstrate the practical implementation of innovative energy solutions.
During the discussions, FRENELL-SES highlighted its New Valley smart mini-grid case study, a pioneering project that demonstrates how renewable energy, advanced energy storage, and intelligent grid management can provide reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective electricity to remote communities and productive-use applications.
The New Valley project serves as a tangible example of how smart mini-grids can contribute to improving energy access, enhancing energy security, reducing dependency on fossil fuels, and supporting local economic development. The project aligns closely with Egypt's vision for expanding renewable energy deployment and creating resilient decentralized energy systems capable of serving remote regions efficiently.
Martin Selig emphasized the importance of transforming regulatory progress into bankable and scalable projects:
"Egypt has made significant progress in establishing a supportive framework for smart mini-grids. The next step is translating this momentum into successful projects that demonstrate both technical reliability and economic viability. The New Valley project illustrates how innovative renewable energy solutions can drive sustainable development while supporting national energy transition objectives."
FRENELL-SES remains committed to working alongside governmental institutions, development partners, investors, and local stakeholders to develop sustainable energy infrastructure that supports Egypt's Vision 2030 and contributes to the country's renewable energy ambitions.
The MENALINKS programme, led by Guidehouse Germany GmbH and supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Government, continues to play a critical role in fostering dialogue, investment, and innovation in the smart mini-grid sector across the MENA region.
